Springston Trophy 2010

The Southland Pony Club Inc. cordially invites all South Island Pony Club Branches or Clubs to participate in Springston Trophy 2010, to be held at the Griffin Equestrian Centre and the Oreti Sands Cross Country Course on Pacific Ave, Otatara, Invercargill from 1st - 3rd October 2010.

Southland Pony Club Inc is made up of 8 Branches from the lower half of Southland. Our Branches are spread around the South East, Southern, Central and Western districts of Southland as well as some being based around Invercargill city. They are Wyndham Branch (based in the South Eastern village of Wyndham), Otara Branch (based in the Catlins at Tokanui,), Tisbury Branch (based at Woodend, just off Bluff Highway), Kingswell Branch (based on the Southern edge of Invercargill), Invercargill Kennington Branch (based at Rimu just east of Invercargill), Lorneville Makarewa Branch (based at Makarewa on the Northern edge of Invercargill), Central Southland Branch (based at Winton in Central Southland) and Waiau Branch (based at Tuatapere deep in Western Southland). SPC has a total of 158 members and have a strong competitive group of riders who will be out to do well at Springston Trophy 2010.

This is the 5th time Southland Pony Club has hosted Springston Trophy and we will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the first time we hosted it in 1985. That was when a dedicated group of Pony Club parents ventured into the wild sand dunes of Oreti Beach and formed the first cross country course at what is known now as the Oreti Sands Cross Country Course. Over the years this course has been developed and used to host other Springston Trophy events as well as the annual Southern Teams competition. Some of the original 1985 organising committee are also members of the ST10 committee and are keen to celebrate this occasion with you all.

Southland Pony Club riders look forward to competing against the best of the South Island and to hosting you at our Springston Trophy 2010 competition.
